Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken Begins New Chapter with Muncie, Indiana Restaurant Remodel

October 26, 2026 // Franchising.com // PENSACOLA, Fla. – Sixty years after Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken first built its reputation for famous fried chicken, the brand is investing in its next chapter. Weston Lee, LLC, led by Jack Omer, grandson of Lee’s co-founder Harold Omer, is preparing to remodel its Muncie, Indiana, restaurant as part of a broader effort to refresh the brand while preserving the traditions that have defined it for generations.

The remodel is part of Lee’s Reframing the Fame initiative, a brand-wide effort to modernize the restaurant experience while staying true to the food and heritage that have made Lee’s a favorite for 60 years. Planned improvements include refreshed colors, updated furniture and fixtures, and new digital menu boards, along with significant updates to the building’s interior and exterior.

“This remodel is very symbolic. It’s about much more than aesthetic updates; it’s about breathing new life into the brand as we celebrate 60 years,” said Jack Omer, franchisee and president of Weston Lee, LLC, and grandson of co-founder Harold Omer. “We know we serve best-in-class fried chicken, and now our restaurants will have an appearance that reflects the quality of the food we serve.”

Work at the Muncie location is expected to wrap up around Nov. 5. During construction, the dining room will be temporarily closed, but the drive-thru will remain open so guests can continue enjoying Lee’s throughout the remodel.

The project is the first of several planned restaurant remodels across Weston Lee’s portfolio, which also includes Lee’s locations in Richmond, Connersville and New Castle, Indiana. Remodels at those restaurants are scheduled to begin later this year.
