SafeSplash Swim School Invests $1 Million in Long Island’s Saf-T-Swim Schools
November 03, 2026 // Franchising.com // San Rafael, CA – SafeSplash Swim School is investing $1 million in Saf-T-Swim, its 13-school brand on Long Island. Founded in 1984 and acquired by SafeSplash in September 2019, Saf-T-Swim has taught Long Island families to swim for more than four decades. The investment will renovate five of the brand's company-owned schools, strengthening performance in one of SafeSplash's most established markets and setting the facility and service standard for schools across its network.
The five schools receiving renovations are in Commack, Little Neck, Levittown, Deer Park and Bohemia, with work beginning this fall and targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027. Families can expect new parent viewing windows at four of the schools, a full pool renovation in Bohemia, new pool equipment, heaters and chemical controllers at several sites, and updated interiors, signage and digital menu boards across all five locations. SafeSplash is also making a significant investment in team training focused on instruction and customer service.
"Our company-owned schools should be the best example of what this brand can be," said Chris Harkness, President of SafeSplash Swim School. "When we ask franchise partners to invest in their facilities and their people, we want to show them we're doing the same thing, and show them the results. Long Island is a strong, mature market for us, and this is about making sure these schools lead the system for the next decade, not just the next season."
The Long Island investment builds on SafeSplash’s broader focus on measurable swimmer outcomes. In January 2026, the company launched the S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Promise nationwide, giving children ages four and older the opportunity to master 10 essential self-rescue skills within one year. Backed by the NDPA, the program has now seen more than 13,000 swimmers pass the test. During the pilot phase, participating locations outperformed the rest of the network on enrollment, retention and revenue.
These initiatives reflect SafeSplash’s approach to growth: investing in company-owned schools and using those locations to identify practices that can benefit the broader franchise network. The company plans to use insights from the Long Island investment to help inform facility, training and customer experience strategies for its more than 200 schools.
