Whollycow®...charley's Scoops Up Ice Cream Brand

(Wednesday, March 15, 2006) - A Sweet Deal:

Charley's Grilled Subs®, a 258-unit Ohio-based restaurant chain is sweetening up the menu with the purchase of the Wholly Cow® All Natural Ice Cream brand.

About Wholly Cow® All Natural Ice Cream:

Laurie & Rob Kramer founded Wholly Cow® in 1984 on Hilton Head Island, SC. To date there are 11 Wholly Cow locations, three of which exist side-by-side with Charley's Grilled Sub® units in food courts.

According to Laurie Kramer, Wholly Cow ice creams are ALL-NATURAL and HANDMADE from secret recipes like they used to do in the old days.

According to ice cream critics, the real point of difference between Wholly Cow and other brands is that you can actually experience the flavor of the ingredients as they are not covered up by additives and preservatives. The best selling "Wild Strawberry" is packed with oversize pieces of fresh strawberries.

What's Next for Charley's & Wholly Cow®?

Charley Shin, President & CEO of Charley's Grilled Subs® discovered Wholly Cow® ice cream while visiting Charlie Myrick, a multi-unit Charley's franchisee and Wholly Cow licensee. "What impressed me the most was that the ice cream business came in during the off-hours for Charley's. Operationally, it was perfect match," says Shin.

The first co-branded unit offering Smoothies and Frozen Coffee's recently opened at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall. Several existing locations will add the brand in the next few months. Charley has super sweet plans for Wholly Cow/Charley's cobranded units and recently hired Jim Fortier, as Chief Marketing Officer/General Manager to spearhead the launch. Mr. Fortier has extensive consumer product marketing, new business development, and general management experience, including previous ice cream experience with Nestle.

Charley's Grilled Subs® was founded in 1986 by Charley Shin on the Ohio State University Campus. Since then the company has branched out into 39 states, Canada, Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, and Kuwait. Best known for its Award-winning Philly-style grilled subs, Charley's specialties include Philly steak, chicken, and deli subs, gourmet fries, and old-fashioned flavored lemonade. Everything is prepared fresh, right off the grill.
