Ledo Pizza Swings for Sick Children at Johns Hopkins Center

September 07, 2006 // Franchising.com // – On September 13, 2006, Ledo Pizza will be holding its 13 annual Golf Classic to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Over 250 players are expected at this year's tournament at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course, which will be hosted by Jimmy Alexander from Mix 107.3's Jack Diamond Morning show. Players will also be joined by Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders, and an island steel drum ensemble all donating their time and energy to help raise funds for the Center.

Every year, the Ledo Pizza family holds its Golf Classic to raise money for the John's Hopkins Children's Center. The Center takes care of children from around the corner, and across the globe. It offers one of the most comprehensive pediatric medical programs in the country from performing emergency trauma surgery to finding causes of and treatments for childhood cancers, to delivering a child's good bill of health. In addition the Center offers children a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities, including play, arts and crafts, a library, medical play and other preparation experiences to help children and families cope better with hospitalization.

When the first Ledo Pizza opened in 1955 near the University of Maryland, the road was a single lane and pizza seemed to be a passing trend. When they opened the restaurant, the owners wanted to keep things simple -- provide high quality food at a great value in a comfortable, family atmosphere. Word of mouth quickly made Ledo a favorite spot for local residents, the University of Maryland community, and the Washington Senators.
Very little has changed since 1955. The pizza is still made the same way. It is rolled to order with fresh handmade dough, topped with the same high quality cheese and tomatoes. The family that created Ledo Pizza now passes the tradition to other families in new areas. These franchises along the East Coast uphold the high standards that made the Ledo Pizza famous and a favorite of families everywhere.
