WORLD CHAMPION COMPETITIVE EATERS SET TO CONVERGE IN LONG BEACH

The best of the best in competitive eating will put on a jaw-dropping show as they contend at the second annual Queen Mary Wienerschnitzel World Chili Cheese Fries Eating Championship on Feb. 17, 2007 aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif. The contest is sponsored by Wienerschnitzel, the world's largest hot dog chain, and sanctioned by the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE), the governing body of all "stomach-centric sports." Scheduled from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the main contest will be preceded by two preliminary events including a Tastee Freez ice cream "neat" eating contest for children and a haggis eating contest for attendees of the annual Scottish Festival taking place that weekend.

The 10-minute, all-you-can-eat headline event will feature Wienerschnitzel's chili cheese fries and the nation's finest gurgitators. Among them include:

* "Jalapeño" Jed Donahue: Huntington Beach, Calif.-resident and World Jalapeño Eating Champion
* Justin Mih: 29-year-old Irvine, Calif.-native.

Other eating superstars to compete for the world title include the 105-pound defending champion of last year's chili cheese fries eating contest, Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, and America's No. 2-ranked competitive eater, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut.

This year's winner will walk away with the first place prize of $4,000. Second prize for the runner-up is $2,500; third is $1,500, and additional cash rewards will be presented to those finishing fourth through sixth. Taking place at the Queen Mary, the day will include energetic competition, prize giveaways, and family-fun activities. All who have purchased Scottish Festival or general Queen Mary admission tickets are welcome to view the event.
