To Aid Fire Relief Efforts, Del Taco Will Donate Portion of Sales of Popular Spicy Chicken Burrito

LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Del Taco will donate to fire relief efforts 25 cents from the sale of each Spicy Chicken Burrito sold from now until Christmas, company officials announced today.

"This is a time when all of us need to come together," said Shirlene Lopez, Del Taco's president and COO. "The devastation caused by the fires will make this an especially difficult holiday season and many people will face challenges for some time to come. Del Taco has been part of these communities for more than 40 years and we want to help families rebuild their lives."

Donations will be made at all southern California company-owned Del Taco's and participating franchise restaurants.

Lopez said the proceeds would be specifically earmarked to benefit families and children. The company hopes to donate $100,000 to the fire victims. Already, about $50,000 in food and meal gift certificates has been contributed to shelters, to individuals who have been displaced by the fires and to firefighters.

Del Taco will launch a new ad this week, focusing on the Spicy Chicken Burrito and promoting the fact that the popular menu item now has twice the chicken at the same price of $1.99. The Spicy Chicken Burrito comes with juicy chunks of marinated grilled chicken, rice, slow-cooked beans, green sauce and grated cheddar cheese.

Founded in 1964, Del Taco operates or franchises more than 495 restaurants in 14 states. More information is available at www.deltaco.com.
