Fastest Wieners In The West Set To Converge During Halftime At The Pit On November 28

November 21, 2007 // Franchising.com // ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Wienerschnitzel, the world's largest hot dog chain, is sponsoring the 2007 Albuquerque Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals, a 50-foot dachshund sprint to the finish line. The two-day event will be held November 27-28, 2007.

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, the preliminary heats will take place at University of New Mexico's Tennis Complex (South of University Stadium). Registration is at 5 p.m. with the first pre-trial race beginning at 5:30 p.m. The final race will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, during halftime of the NCAA basketball game at The Pit featuring the University of New Mexico vs. Southern Utah. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The pre-trials consist of preliminary heats with the finalist from each trial advancing to the final race. The victor of the final race will be crowned the "2007 Albuquerque Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals Champion," and earn his or her owner a $250 prize. In addition, Wienerschnitzel will award the winner a trip for two (plus dog) to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the Wienerschnitzel Wiener National Finals on December 27 at the Holiday Bowl Big Bay Balloon Parade.

There is no cost to participate in the race. Admission to the Albuquerque Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals pre-trials is free. Admission to the Wiener National finals during the University of Arizona basketball game is included with tickets to the game.
