Denny's and The Salvation Army Give Christmas Breakfasts to Families in Need

Meals Provided in Honor of the Grand Slam(R) 30th Anniversary

SPARTANBURG, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 2007--Denny's is partnering with The Salvation Army to observe the 30th anniversary of Denny's signature Grand Slam(R) breakfast and is donating gift cards to 30 Salvation Army units around the country to distribute to 30 families at each location.

"People have depended on us to be open on Christmas Day for over 50 years, and we are honored to provide meals in a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our guests during the holiday season," said Nelson Marchioli, Chief Executive Officer and President of Denny's. "We are pleased The Salvation Army is joining us for the Grand Slam's 30th anniversary celebration by offering Christmas breakfast to those who need it most."

Denny's signature Grand Slam(R) breakfast was introduced in 1977 and is one of Denny's best selling items, delighting 7 million guests a year. In the 30 years since it was added to the menu, Denny's has served over 500 million Grand Slams to guests. As when it was introduced, the Grand Slam(R) continues to feature pancakes, eggs, bacon strips and sausage links - two of each.

"Christmas is a hard time for many families who are struggling to make ends meet," said George Hood, National Community Relations Secretary for The Salvation Army. "We are grateful to work with Denny's to offer gift cards to 900 deserving families because we know every little bit counts."

For the second year in a row, Denny's was the only restaurant chain to host The Salvation Army's "Angel Tree" gift giving programs in its locations nationwide. The program allows Denny's customers and employees to select "angel" ornaments from in-restaurant Christmas Trees and purchase gifts of new clothing and toys for local children and families who might otherwise go without.
