Red Roof Inn Adds Two New Senior VPs To Growing Ranks

High-end economy lodging brand gains new general counsel and head of franchise team

April 09, 2008 // Franchising.com // - Red Roof, an innovative leader in the economy lodging segment, announces the addition of two key members to their growing ranks. Red Roof has been providing a top-quality lodging experience to budget-conscious business and leisure travelers for 35 years.

As the company moves forward with its strategic national growth, Red Roof is pleased to announce the new responsibilities for long-time Red Roof veteran Robert Wallace and the addition of Andrew Alexander. Both individuals will hold senior positions and will join Chief Executive Officer Joe Wheeling on the brand's Executive Committee that will set the strategic direction for the company.

In his role as Senior Vice President of Franchise, Robert Wallace will be responsible for growing the brand's network of hotels nationally by overseeing franchise sales and development as well as directing the efforts of the Operations and Administrative group within the franchise department. He has played a vital role in the successful launch of the "Redesigned, Rededicated" strategy to reposition the Red Roof brand at the top of the economy lodging segment. Wallace will be instrumental in promoting the new NextGen prototype hotel to franchise owners who are invested in delivering a modern, memorable and cost-effective experience to their guests.

He joined Red Roof Inn in January of 1980 and has more than 28 years of operational experience with the economy lodging brand. He has held various positions within Operations, including General Manager, Regional Director, District Vice President, Divisional Vice President, Group Vice President, and Senior Vice President.

Prior to his current role, Wallace joined Accor North America in August 1999 as Senior Vice President of Operations when Accor acquired Red Roof Inn. In this position, he supervised five District Vice Presidents of Operations and the Director of Operations Programs.

Wallace obtained his baccalaureate degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Alexander joins Red Roof as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. He oversees all aspects of the company's legal affairs, risk management, human resources and real estate acquisition and development.

Prior to joining Red Roof in 2007, Alexander held the position of Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Boykin Lodging Company for ten years. At Boykin Lodging, Alexander served as the chief legal officer for Boykin Lodging Company and Boykin Management Company and was a member of the company's executive and investment committees. From 1995-97, Alexander held the position of Vice President-Corporate Counsel of Renaissance Hotel Group, N.V., a publicly traded international hotel company, where he served as legal counsel for the company's initial public offering and eventual sale to Marriott International.

Alexander has practiced law for over 18 years and has more than 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

"We have been working hard to put the right leadership and infrastructure in place to take Red Roof into the future," says Wheeling. Both Rob and Andy bring a wealth of experiences and industry knowledge and will play a pivotal role in that effort."
