Express Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

Lt. Col. Oliver North to Speak at Dinner Following

April 17, 2008 // Franchising.com // OKLAHOMA CITY,– Express Employment Professionals, formerly Express Personnel Services, will celebrate 25 years of business with an open house on Thursday, April 17. The event will kick off at 4 p.m. with a tour of the new 90,000-square-foot building located at 9701 N. Boardwalk with a ribbon-cutting ceremony following at 5:30 p.m.

"The phenomenal growth of Express and the staffing industry as a whole has caused us to outgrow our current 60,000-square-foot building in just six years," Express Founder Robert A. Funk said. "Now, with two buildings totaling 150,000 square feet, we'll be able to put more people to work and keep up with our continual growth."

Twenty-five years ago, Express was founded by Funk, William H. Stoller and James Gray, from the dissolution of Acme Personnel, a Washington-based company in which all three were employed.

In 1985, when the first Express office was franchised, the company began experiencing phenomenal growth. Within five years, Express ranked among the top personnel firms in the United States and was recognized as one of the fastest-growing privately-held companies in the country. In 1990, Funk and Stoller purchased Gray's shares of the company.

By 1994, Express had 180 franchise offices with sales totaling more than $325 million. In 1999, the company posted $1 billion in sales. In 2007, Express reached nearly $2 billion in revenue.

With 30 offices statewide and more than 600 offices in four countries, Express Employment Professionals puts 350,000 people to work each year.
Express provides expertise in evaluation and direct hire, temporary staffing, executive recruiting and human resources.
