Papa Murphy's Named to Inc. Magazine Top 100

Take 'n' bake pizza pioneer among the fastest-growing private companies in the country

August 29, 2008 // Franchising.com // Vancouver, Wash. -- Inc. magazine has placed Papa Murphy's International on its 2008 list of Top 100 Food & Beverage Companies in the country. This is the second consecutive year that the take 'n' bake pizza pioneer has made the national list, demonstrating its sizeable customer-following and craveable product. Papa Murphy's is widely acknowledged for excellence in value, quality, variety, service and convenience. As such, consumers just voted the company Best Pizza Chain in America1 for the sixth year in a row.

"Our second annual Inc. 5000 continues the most ambitious project in business journalism," said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. "The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth."

Papa Murphy's currently operates over 1,000 franchised and corporate-owned stores in the U.S. and Canada, and with more than 100 stores opening each year, the company is growing both in geography and in sales, according to Kevin King, vice president of development at Papa Murphy's.

"We've had five consecutive years of positive same-store sales growth," says King. "We're a terrific vehicle for qualified people to get into their own business with very attractive returns. We have the lowest build-out cost of any of the national pizza chains and many other national brands2. Additionally, the fact that our stores operate at a very specific segment of the day, or day part, is an attractive business model for many entrepreneurs to build their own dreams."
