Winner will receive $1000 and design featured on 2009 race t-shirt

November 05, 2008 // Franchising.com // Austin, TX - Love the Annual Schlotzsky's® Bun Run®? Want to draw your buns off, design the 2009 long-sleeve race t-shirt and win some dough? Based on the success of last year's inaugural t-shirt contest, Schlotzsky's and race sponsors Coca-Cola, RunTex, Mix 94.7 FM, Majic 95.5 FM, Talk Radio 1370 AM and the Young Men's Business League of Austin (YMBL) are once again leaving the look of the Bun Run t-shirt up to the public.

All eligible U.S. residents ages 13 and up can submit their artwork for consideration between now and Jan. 16, 2009. Judges will select the top five finalists, showcase them online Feb. 1-28 and allow voters to choose their favorite design. The winning artist will receive $1,000 and recognition at the race on May 3 – and of course, thousands of race participants and volunteers will sport the selected masterpiece. The remaining four finalists will earn $100 each.

Participants can submit up to three designs. All entries must be postmarked by Jan. 16 and mailed to:

The city's longest-running 5K, the Annual Schlotzsky's Bun Run hosts an average of 5,000 participants and raises an average of $50,000 for Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps, YMBL's program that sends at-risk and disadvantaged youths to summer camp to learn about leadership, team-building and trust. "We sincerely appreciate all the Bun Run and Austin Sunshine Camps support we've gotten from the community for over 25 years," said Kelly Roddy, president of Schlotzsky's. "We think this year's t-shirt contest will give everyone another way to feel even more connected to the good works that come about thanks to the race.

"Not only that, but the long-sleeve t-shirt has reached pop culture status in Austin and the surrounding areas," continued Roddy. "People wear them all year long, and thousands of participants have shirts dating back to the original race. What could be more fun than making your mark in Bun Run history and having your design become part of an Austin tradition?"
