Dunkin' Donuts Celebrates Inauguration With New 'Stars & Stripes' Donut

CANTON, Mass., Jan. 14 // PRNewswire // -- Dunkin' Donuts, America's favorite everyday, all-day stop for coffee and baked goods, today introduced a sweet new way to celebrate the inauguration of the new president. During inaugural week, Dunkin' Donuts customers can enjoy a special new "Stars & Stripes" donut, a frosted donut decorated with red, white and blue star-shaped sprinkles. The new donut is available at participating Dunkin' Donuts shops nationwide for the suggested retail price of $0.89 beginning Saturday, January 17 through Tuesday, January 20.

"The launch of a new administration and a new year creates a unique spirit of anticipation, excitement and optimism, particularly among the hard-working people who keep this country running each and every day," said Frances Allen, Brand Marketing Officer for Dunkin' Donuts. "We wanted to celebrate this special time with a donut, a beloved treat that any person can enjoy at an affordable price."

In celebration of the Inauguration of the 44th President, Dunkin' Donuts will offer a "Stars & Stripes" donut for $0.44 cents with the purchase of a medium hot coffee or hot chocolate through January 20 at participating shops in Washington, D.C. and other select markets.

The launch of the "Stars & Stripes" donut follows last week's unveiling of Dunkin' Donuts new $100+ million "You Kin' Do It" advertising campaign. Dunkin' Donuts' newest iteration of the popular "America Runs on Dunkin'" campaign offers encouragement and a spirit of fun during these challenging economic times. With "Kin' Do" literally part of the Dunkin' Donuts name, the new campaign cheers on the everyday people who keep America running by reminding them they can take on any task: you kin' make it through the workday, you kin' shovel out that driveway, you kin' pass that exam, you kin' finish that paperwork.

Political leaders in Washington, D.C. will find it easier to keep themselves running with Dunkin' Donuts coffee in 2009. Through a partnership with Sara Lee Foodservice, Dunkin' Donuts coffee will now be available at the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

For millions of people, enjoying a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee is a daily ritual. Dunkin' Donuts has set the industry standard for offering a superior grade of coffee, and the company sells nearly 1.5 billion cups of coffee every year. In 2008, for the second year in a row, Dunkin' Donuts ranked number one in customer loyalty in the coffee category by the Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index.
