Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Brea Public Safety Employee Association Memorial Foundation

May 20, 2009 // Franchising.com // Brea, Calif. – Jersey Mike's Subs will officially open its doors in Brea next week. Business partners, Clarissa Palomaria and Juana Zapata know the importance of community relations and will celebrate their new ties with the area when they hold their grand opening on May 20, 2009.

To commemorate the grand opening, the new restaurant, located at 955 East Birch Street, is hosting a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., May 20 through Sun., May 24, with proceeds supporting the local Brea Public Safety Employee Association Memorial Foundation. Anyone who has a fundraising coupon can get a free regular sub for a $1 donation. Coupons are being distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

"We selected this organization because it benefits injured and fallen police officers and firemen who give so much to our community on a daily basis as well as their families," said Zapata. "We wanted to say thank you and show our support."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "We believe every Jersey Mike's has a responsibility to its local community," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's Founder and CEO. "People like Clarissa Palomaria and Juana Zapata make a difference with their commitment to giving back. We wish them every success."

"What attracted me most to Jersey Mike's was the quality and taste of the product. From the first time I tried a Jersey Mike's sub I fell in love with the product and wanted to bring it to my community. When I researched the business model and the mission of being involved in the community - I was sold," said Palomaria.

Jersey Mike's, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 400 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support. Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's serves authentic Northeast style subs on fresh baked bread – the same recipe it started with over 50 years ago. The company's mission is to bring its customers the highest quality, freshest made sub in the industry and give back to the communities in which it operates.
