Owner Celebrates With Free Subs

Jersey Mike's owner, Amy Brown, knows the importance of community relations and celebrated her new ties with the area during her grand opening on Wed., September 30, 2009. This is the eighth Jersey Mike's Subs shop to open in the Oklahoma market.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1204 North Interstate Drive, in the Robinson Crossing Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., September 30 through Sun., October 4, with proceeds supporting the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a $1 donation. Coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

Brown picked this charity due to her familiarity with the cause. "I have a family member with Down syndrome, so I am acutely aware of the needs and challenges. Increasing awareness and promoting the acceptance of all people with Down syndrome is very close to my heart," she said.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "We believe you have to participate in your community to be a success," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's Founder and CEO. "Amy Brown is enthusiastic about being an effective business leader and cares about her community -- we are proud of her efforts."
