Challenges Franchise Industry to Join the Effort

SALT LAKE CITY, UT --(Marketwire) - TCBY, The Country's Best Yogurt and the frozen yogurt innovator, is offering its own stimulus package to one fortunate individual: a ready-to-serve TCBY store anywhere in the United States, a value worth more than $300,000. In this spirit, TCBY is challenging the more than 1,500 franchisors across America to join the effort.

Not only does the lucky recipient receive The Country's Best Career, the award also includes the hiring of local employees, revenue to the city's tax base, income for local vendors and, of course, happy TCBY customers. If each franchisor agreed, this challenge would translate to approximately 30,000 jobs.

"With the unemployment rate sitting just below 10 percent nationally, this challenge could be an opportunity for franchisors to help stimulate local economies across the nation, and ultimately, improve the discouraging national unemployment rate," explains Michael Ward, chief executive officer of TCBY. "We've been very impressed with the entrepreneurial, business-minded entries we've received thus far, so it feels right that the franchise industry, which plays such an important part of our economy, join our effort."

To enter, contestants must submit a video, no longer than two minutes, explaining why they should be the recipient of their very own TCBY, why their town is the perfect location, and what they have to offer the brand. Submissions will be judged on creativity, a sense of business acumen, and originality. Video submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2010.

Following the entry round, TCBY will narrow all video submissions down to 10 semi-finalists. Beginning in early April 2010, the public will then be given the opportunity to help narrow the list down to five finalists, who will go through a standard franchisee screening process before the grand prize winner is chosen.
