Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds for Athletic Booster Organization at Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

May 07, 2010 // Franchising.com // Jersey Mike's Subs opened its second location in Chesterfield. Jersey Mike's owner, Robby Waldrop knows the importance of community relations and celebrated his new ties with the area during his grand opening on May 5.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 7317 Hancock Village Drive, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., May 5 through Sun., May 9, and all proceeds were contributed to the Cosby Athletic Booster Organization. Jersey Mike's distributed coupons throughout the community and in local newspapers. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation.

"We share the Cosby Athletic Booster Organization's commitment to our local children and invite the community to help us raise funds in support of this outstanding organization," said Waldrop. Cosby High School Athletic Booster organization was established in 2006, to provide for the student-athletes at Cosby High School and to assist the Activities Director in providing for the needs of those students who represent the Titans in athletic competition.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "If we offer our best and give back to our communities, everybody stands to benefit," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's Founder and CEO. "Robby Waldrop is actively giving back because he wants to see the community succeed."

"Jersey Mike's Subs and Chesterfield are a terrific match," said Waldrop. "This is my eighth store in the Richmond market and I owe it all to our extremely loyal customers. Jersey Mike's is synonymous with quality products and a great experience and we are looking forward to bringing that to the great people of the Chesterfield area."

Jersey Mike's, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 450 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support. Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's serves authentic Northeast style subs on fresh baked bread - the same recipe it started with over 50 years ago. The company's mission is to bring its customers the highest quality, freshest made sub in the industry and give back to the communities in which it operates.
