Jersey Mike's Subs Franchise Raises Funds for Children's Hospital at Grand Opening

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

June 16, 2010 // Franchising.com // Jersey Mike's Subs officially opened its doors in Norfolk. Jersey Mike's owners Martin Anderson and Clark Stalling know the importance of community involvement and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on Wed., June 16.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1211 N. Military Highway, in the Broad Creek Shopping Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser to benefit the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD). Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution from Wed., June 16 through Sun., June 20. Coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

"One of our top priorities as small business owners is to support worthy local organizations. For us, helping children is especially important," said Martin Anderson. "CHKD is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) which is close to my heart. My youngest daughter, Anna-Gray (10 yrs), was a Miracle Child for CMN seven years ago. She has had four heart surgeries at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, in Greenville, NC. I have experienced and personally appreciate the importance of our Children's Hospital and strongly encourage everyone, especially those with children, to come out and support CHKD. You simply never know when your child, a friend or a relative's child is going to need the services they provide."

The King's Daughters established CHKD exclusively for children. Today the hospital is a comprehensive health care center treating all children who need the special care. "CHKD works with kids in many capacities, from routine exams to complex surgeries. They have helped thousands of children in the Virginia and North Carolina area. Clark and I are very thankful that CHKD has allowed us to partner with them for this fundraiser and we are hopeful that we will raise a substantial amount of money to go towards the needs of the hospital," said Anderson.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "When you are an active contributor in the community it shows," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. "Martin and Clark are truly committed to supporting the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. We applaud their efforts and congratulate them on their newest store."

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (757) 216-5555.
