Midas Franchise Hits the Road with Trip Advice, Music and Safety Tips

ITASCA, Ill. (BUSINESS WIRE) -- As road trip season has arrived, it's important to be prepared for a summer full of adventure, fun and road travel. Midas International Corporation, one of the world's largest providers of automotive services, has partnered with top experts to provide families with the tools they need to help them have fun and be safe as they hit the highways. (Midas resources on road trips, car care and safe teen driving information are available at www.midassummer2010.com).

"The keys to a great road trip when you're taking the kids are to plan well, be prepared and then smile when it doesn't work out the way you think it will," says Kim Orlando, travel expert and founder of TravelingMom.com, the go-to source for moms who travel with and without their kids. Midas has partnered with Kim for a Twitter Party on Monday, July 12 at 9 p.m. EST filled with family road trip conversation and contests to win great family road trip prizes (hashtag #TMOMNYC).

Noting that road trips and music have gone together since rock 'n roll (and Midas!) were born in the late 1950s, Midas has partnered with SPIN on the "Rock the Highway" sweepstakes and contest. By visiting www.rockthehighway.com music fans can vote on Midas and SPIN favorite road songs of all time and enter to win prizes. Additionally, Midas and Spin are also searching for a new, original song to win the "Next Great Road Song" title and a chance to appear in a SPIN Magazine ad. For more information about prizes, deadlines, and submission rules, visit www.rockthehighway.com.

Midas also recognizes that according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day posts the most fatalities for young drivers, ages 15-20. Midas has teamed with nationally noted automotive expert, Lauren Fix, The Car CoachTM, to educate teens and parents on how to maintain a safe vehicle, become a safer driver and share useful safety tips. Lauren will be holding special clinics throughout the summer including two upcoming events on July 15 in Fresno, Calif., at The Boys & Girls Club and on July 16 in Bakersfield, Calif., at the Midas shop at 6919 White Lane.

Midas has also partnered with The National Safety Council in support of "Alive at 25," an interactive online course that helps parents reinforce basic driving skills, encourage good decision making and build skills to help teens become safe, responsible and defensive drivers. This online course, www.midas.com/aliveat25, typically costs $25, but Midas is providing it free of charge for parents, while supplies last.
