Extreme Pita Franchise Launches Reloadable Gift Card

Canadian Franchisor Eliminates Hassle and Improves Ordering Experience

September 08, 2010 // Franchising.com // MISSISSAUGA, Ontario Canada – As the popularity of gift cards continues to grow, and with gift card sales totaling more than $97 billion, Extreme Pita is capitalizing on this expanding market.

The Canadian franchisor recently announced the launch of its reloadable gift cards. Available immediately, the gift cards are designed to ease the process for guests to make purchases online or in stores across North America.

"Not only is our brand known for fresh and healthy options, but also for the convenience we provide to our guests," said Alex Rechichi, CEO and Co-Founder of Extreme Pita. "With the launch of our reloadable gift card, we've eliminated the use of pin numbers or signing receipts and made purchases one quick swipe away."

The gift cards can be purchased at all of Extreme Pita's Canadian & US locations, as well as online. Guests are encouraged to purchase online in order to register their cards and take advantage of specific card benefits, including protection against loss or theft and the ability to view up-to-date card balances online. Cards must initially be loaded with an amount between $10 and $250, but can also be reloaded between $10 and $250.

To manage the launch of the reloadable gift cards, Extreme Pita has partnered with well respected and global card provider Givex. Founded in 1999, Givex provides gift, loyalty and other closed loop technologies. The launch is also supported by Extreme Pita's current debit and credit card suppliers Moneris Solutions and J.P. Morgan Chase.

"We're excited to partner with Givex, as its global reputation and proven track record will help provide the best possible service to our loyal guests and give our brand a competitive edge," said Mark Cunningham Executive Vice President Business Development.

"Extreme Pita understands its guests well," says Amanda French, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Givex. "The new reloadable card and gift card website complement Extreme Pita strengths by providing their guests with more convenience and excellent service."

Unlike traditional fast food restaurants and sub shops, Extreme Pita does not offer foot-long loaves of bread with just the typical options for filling. Instead, they offer a 2,000-year-old traditional bread staple – the pita – and feature a "no rules" menu that customizes every rolled pita to suit the individual tastes of its health conscious customers. Only offering non-processed cheeses, meats, vegetables and sauces, all pitas are served fresh or sautéed in water, not oil, right in front of the customer.

About Extreme Pita

Extreme Pita was co-founded by Alex and Mark Rechichi in 1997. Their desire was to provide a product that would compete against traditional fast food concepts. Right from the start their idea was simple – sell fresh and healthy food. After a great deal of research and experimenting, Extreme Pita became the answer to this quest. Today the company boasts more than 235 locations in North America and is experiencing a double digit growth rate.
