September 10, 2010 // Franchising.com // Several local charities around the country will be big winners on September 10 when locally-owned Mr. Handyman franchises donates the skills of its technicians as they observe the National Day of Service.

Mr. Handyman is a full-service home repair and maintenance franchise, and is donating nearly 500 hours of our technicians' time to repair drywall, paint, stain decks, mend fences and make doorways and hallways more accessible.

As the No. 1 employer of handymen in the nation, Mr. Handyman will have more than 60 technicians participating in the National Day of Service from Los Angeles to Chicago.

"Donating our services to charitable organizations around the country was a meaningful way to provide solutions to needs of great causes," said Todd Recknagel, president and chief executive officer of Mr. Handyman, International. "We are always looking for ways to give back to our community, and we think it's even more significant as part of a national effort to help deserving organizations."

More than 300 U.S. and Canadian locations will rally around the cause and donate their skilled technicians' time to a local charity of choice. Ideally, company executives at the franchise system's national headquarters aim to donate nearly 500 hours of work to homeless shelters, hospitals, senior and patient care centers, as well as non-profits and other community service organizations.

"Mr. Handyman is an international brand, made up of entrepreneurs who live and work in local communities," said Recknagel. "We hope to come together as a group and make a large-scale impact on a single day."
