Jersey Mike's Subs Franchise Raises Funds For American Kids Cancer Fund At Grand Opening

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

October 14, 2010 // Franchising.com // Woodland Hills, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Woodland Hills. Jersey Mike's owners Tom Magglos, Don and Dianne Johnson, along with managing partner Jose Gonzalez know the importance of community relations and celebrated their ties with the area during their grand opening on October 13.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 22649 Ventura Blvd., in the Mayhew Plaza, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Oct. 13 through Sun., Oct. 17, with proceeds supporting the American Kids Cancer Fund. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation. Coupons were distributed throughout the community.

"We are looking forward to assisting the American Kids Cancer Fund. The organization strives to brighten the lives of underprivileged children and their families," said Magglos. "Families of children with cancer go through a very emotional experience and we are passionate about helping them." The American Kids Cancer Fund was founded to create awareness and provide financial assistance to families in need, whose children have been diagnosed with cancer and are undergoing treatment. "Please come in and join us to support the American Kids Cancer Fund."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. Magglos and Don Johnson knew each other through their careers as corporate pilots before deciding to become business partners. They opened their first store in Chatsworth, Calif. last November.
