Local Healthcare Company Presented With National Recognition

BrightStar of Essex County receives accreditation by the Community Health Accreditation Program

December 08, 2010 // Franchising.com // CHICAGO — BrightStar of Essex County, NJ, a full-service home healthcare and medical staffing agency, was recently awarded national recognition by the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc., the oldest national, community-based accrediting body.

The CHAP recognizes BrightStar for meeting the industry's highest nationally recognized standards. The company was evaluated on structure and function, quality of services and products, human and financial resources, and long term viability. This is the first year CHAP accreditation has been awarded to BrightStar.

"We are honored to receive this recognition to help position our company for continued growth and long term viability," said Herb Ronde, local owner of BrightStar of Essex County. "With the growing number of senior care concepts in our local community, it is critical for us to find measures that will help separate ourselves from the competition. Receiving accreditation from the CHAP shows we are a company with a solid foundation that abides by the highest policies and procedures."

BrightStar is a full-service healthcare staffing agency that specializes in providing medical and non-medical homecare to private clients within their homes, as well as supplemental healthcare staff to corporate clients such as hospitals and nursing homes. While senior citizens make up the majority of the company's private duty clientele, BrightStar also works with pediatric and worker compensation cases, long term care and Veteran clients, as well as private trust and public guardian payers. BrightStar is also active in school nursing programs, retail health clinics and provides day care services.

"We are very pleased that BrightStar chose CHAP accreditation," said Terry A. Duncombe, CHAP President and CEO. "Voluntarily selecting to achieve CHAP accreditation and meeting our high standards of excellence demonstrates BrightStar's commitment to quality. CHAP is delighted to work with their entire team through the ongoing process of quality improvement."

CHAP is an independent, not-for-profit, accrediting body for community-based health care organizations. Created in 1965, CHAP was the first to recognize the need and value for accreditation in community-based care. CHAP is the oldest national, community-based accrediting body with more than 5,000 agencies currently accredited nationwide. Through "deeming authority" granted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), CHAP has the regulatory authority to survey agencies providing home health, hospice, and home medical equipment services, to determine if they meet the Medicare Conditions of Participation and CMS Quality Standards. CHAP's purpose is to define and advance the highest standards of community-based care.
