Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds for Two Local Schools at Grand Opening Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

January 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // Orange, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Orange. Jersey Mike's owners Ed Castaneda and Naida Castro know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on Dec. 15.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1545 E. Katella Avenue in the Tuskatella Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Dec. 15 through Sun., Dec. 19, with proceeds supporting Villa Park High School and Orange High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 7,500 coupons were distributed throughout the community.

"We chose the two local high schools as our recipients because we believe in supporting the education of our country's future leadership," said Castaneda. "Training our future leaders is also very much in line with our company philosophy. Both Naida's son and my two sons will be involved in the management of our stores."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
