Customers Give Dickey's Barbecue Spicy Cheddar Sausage 'Thumbs Up'

The Country's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Set To Roll Out New LTO February 1st Nationwide

DALLAS, Jan. 11, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- After months of testing new limited time product Spicy Cheddar Sausage in North Texas locations, Dickey's Barbecue Pit officials have heard a few messages loud and clear: customers love spice and the more cheese, the better.

"In Texas, we love certain tastes. But, having worked in fine dining restaurants and many culinary formats all over the world, I know this is not just a Texas thing," Dickey's Corporate Chef Tyler Riddle said reviewing customer survey results last month. "Everyone loves cheese, just like everyone loves the taste of butter. And our Spicy Cheddar Sausage will not knock your socks off with heat, but it has just enough kick to off-set the cheddar. It is a mixture that just can't go wrong."

Spicy Cheddar Sausage will hit stores across the country February 1st.

On Friday, January 28th, Dickey's will hold National Spicy Cheddar Sausage Sample Day, where patrons can stop by their local Dickey's for a free sample of this new product.

"It is delicious," Customer Carol Borden of McKinney, Texas said after sampling Spicy Cheddar Sausage for the first time. "I like it because of the cheese. It is really creamy and I thought it was spicy. The flavors complement each other. I would definitely order it next time I come back to Dickey's."

In addition to testing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Dickey's has sent samples to local press and restaurant industry publications.

The results have been overwhelmingly positive.

"We have a winner," Vice President of Operations, Corby Cronin said. "The Spicy Cheddar Sausage is a new spin on our signature Polish-style sausage that has been a customer favorite for decades. With all of the positive feedback from customers over the past few months, we are just anxious to get it out to our stores across the country."

This will be the first spicy item that Dickey's has offered their customers.

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994.

There are 139 locations in 33 states to date, with 60 more locations in the pipeline, set to open in early 2011.

Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
