Las Vegas Dickey's Barbecue to Hold Fundraiser Benefitting Schorr Elementary

Local Owner/Operator Dedicates Percentage Of Customer Appreciation Event Proceeds LAS VEGAS, Jan. 13, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit Las Vegas Franchise Owner, Jason Rivera, will hold a customer appreciation day Friday, January 21st benefitting Steven Schorr Elementary School and marking nearly 2 years since the location opened its doors.

"It is such a great feeling to have gotten this far. The community has been so supportive. I really wanted to do something special to give back," Rivera said. "We have partnered with local schools before -- teacher appreciation days for the high schools and junior highs in town. We have also done the elementary school Halloween carnivals and it has always been really rewarding. The school system is so important to this community, and it is something that is really important to me."

The Owner said 10 percent of proceeds for the day will go to the school.

"Hopefully this will give Schorr Elementary a good start in 2011," he said.

In addition to helping out, customers can also enjoy $1 barbecue sandwiches from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and enter for a chance to win free barbecue for one year.

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit asks all Dickey's Owner/Operators to find ways to be good stewards in their surrounding communities.

"The Dallas area has been good to us, so we have always wanted to give back. As we expand we are moving into new communities across the country every month," Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. CEO Roland Dickey said. "We want our Owner/Operators to take the value of community stewardship along with the barbecue to their neighbors and friends."

SPICY CHEDDAR SAUSAGE DEBUTS FEBRUARY 1ST

After months of testing new limited time product Spicy Cheddar Sausage in locations across the country, Dickey's Barbecue Pit officials have heard a few messages loud and clear: customers love spice and the more cheese, the better.

"Everyone loves cheese, just like everyone loves the taste of butter. And our Spicy Cheddar Sausage will not knock your socks off with heat, but it has just enough kick to off-set the cheddar. It is a mixture that just can't go wrong," Dickey's Corporate Chef Tyler Riddle said.

Spicy Cheddar Sausage will hit stores across the country February 1st.

On Friday, January 28th, Dickey's will hold National Spicy Cheddar Sausage Sample Day, where patrons can stop by their local Dickey's for a free sample of this new product from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994, now there are over 139 locations in 33 states.

Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.

Committed to exceptional quality at a great value, Dickey's Barbecue is unlike anything in the area, according to Rivera.

Other franchise locations in Nevada include Reno and another is soon to open in Henderson.
