Pharr Dickey's Barbecue Pit to Hold Grand Opening Friday

The Country's Fastest Growing Barbecue Expands in Texas

PHARR, Texas, Feb. 17, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit's Pharr location will hold their Grand Opening event Friday, February 18th, serving up hot pit-smoked meats, home-style sides and one dollar big barbecue sandwiches for all.

The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. where patrons can also enter to win free barbecue for a year, according to officials.

Dickey's is growing at a rapid pace with 140 locations and 60 more are in development across the country this year.

Its latest addition is at 1201 S. Jackson Rd. Ste 9 in Pharr.

"The people of Pharr are in need of a great barbecue establishment and we are excited to finally bring Dickey's to the southern part of the state," Franchise Owner Dolores Quiroga said. "Since we have been open, it has been a wonderful experience -- a lot of hard work that is definitely paying off. I look forward to seeing everyone at the grand opening and officially marking our place here."

Quiroga said she decided to open a location in Pharr because she thought it would be a great business opportunity.

"You cannot find better people to work with than those at Dickey's and they have been there hand in hand with me since the very beginning," she said.

This seems to be the sentiment of all Dickey's owner/operators.

"We care deeply about the success of our owners," Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. President Roland Dickey, Jr. said. "Dolores has been a wonderful addition to our business family and we know she will be successful. Pharr is a welcoming community and a great place to do business."

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Committed to exceptional quality at a great value, Dickey's Barbecue is unlike anything in the area, according to Quiroga.
