Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds for Two Local High Schools at Grand Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

March 10, 2011 // Franchising.com // San Diego, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its sixth store in the San Diego area. Jersey Mike's owner Christy Paul knows the importance of community relations and celebrated her new ties with the area during her grand opening on March 9.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 7420 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., March 9 through Sun., March 13, with proceeds supporting Clairemont High School and Kearny High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 10,000 coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

"I used to be a high school teacher before I became a restaurateur and I am very passionate about working with the local high schools near the store," said Ms. Paul. "Both of these schools are great institutions and I look forward to joining them to help area students reach their full potential. To create some friendly competition, we will also contribute an extra $250 to the school that raises the most during the fundraiser."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. Now here we are, living in our cute little duplex in Encinitas, with our 3 and 1/2 month old son, and opening one of the biggest Jersey Mike's at the Clairemont location on March 9th, 2011."
