Local Owner/Operators Invite Potential Business Men And Women To Mix, Mingle At Marriot

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 9, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Along with a new store opening this month in Gramling, Dickey's Barbecue Pit Franchise Owners are looking to meet potential businessmen and businesswomen to join in their success at the Marriot hotel in Greenville, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 24th.

"My partner Bill Friend and I have had such success owning our own Dickey's Barbecue and we want to share our knowledge and experience with other entrepreneurs," Owner Todd Brents said.

Brents and Friend opened their first Dickey's location in Taylors and this month opened another restaurant in Gramling.

This Dickey's is the first of its kind—a restaurant in the club house at the Village Greens Golf Course at 13921 Asheville Highway in Gramling.

Looking back on the journey he has taken with the Dickey's brand, Brents said the best thing has been his community's support.

"Because there is such specific taste in barbecue here in the Carolina's we weren't sure how Dickey's would be received. But, all our recipes are time-tested Dickey's family recipes—no matter what people might be used to, everyone loves Dickey's! It has been such a win-win for us. The best business decision I have ever made," he said, smiling.

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994, now there are 145 locations in 33 states—making Dickey's the fastest growing barbecue chain in the world.

Sixty more locations are in development coast to coast.

With a strong presence in North Carolina, the company is targeting South Carolina for their next big expansion.

"Dickey's is moving at light-speed and we are not stopping here. Our goal is to have 500 stores by 2012.
