Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For High School at Grand Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

April 14, 2011 // Franchising.com // Leland, NC - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Leland. Jersey Mike's owner Jeff Owens knows the importance of community relations and celebrated his new ties with the area during his grand opening on April 13.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 2029 Olde Regent Way in the Waterford Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wednesday, April 13 through Sunday, April 17, with proceeds supporting North Brunswick High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 5,000 coupons were distributed throughout the community.

"One of my top priorities as a Jersey Mike's franchisee is to support the community," said Jeff Owens. "I decided to support the local high school where my store is located, because I truly believe in educating our youth to ensure a bright future."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "When you are an active contributor in the community it shows," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. "Jeff Owens is committed to helping the Leland community.
