Batteries Plus Hits Internet Retailer's Top 500 List
Prestigious Internet Retailer Publication Awards Batteries Plus For Second Consecutive Year
May 26, 2011 // Franchising.com // Hartland, WI - Batteries Plus, the nation's battery franchise leader with more than 450 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico, has once again been named as one of the top e-retailers on the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. In this year's 2011 rankings, Batteries Plus was No. 462 in the Top 500 Guide based on web sales and ranked in the Top 50 in the Computer/Electronics category.
Batteries and related accessories are a necessity even in tough financial times, with more consumers looking to replace the batteries on their older devices rather than spending more money to buy new devices. Also, due to rapidly increasing technology and the proliferation of new devices, Batteries Plus has been able to capitalize on this increasing demand as well, helping the franchise stay at the top of the growing $30.7 billion U.S. battery industry, estimated to reach $34.6 billion by 2014.
"We've recognized the increasing demand for batteries needed to power up all of the portable electronic devices in both businesses and homes, and our goal since opening in 1988 has been to meet and exceed those needs," said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus. "In today's increasingly portable society, more consumers are using many of those same portable devices to make their purchases online. This ranking shows that our website, which underwent a redesign in early 2010, has continued to attract customers to view our products and services and subsequently make purchases, and it remains a significant part of our company's strategic business decisions".
Batteries Plus continues to pile up the accolades in 2011, having also been ranked #31 on Dun & Bradstreet's All Business All-Stars list of the best franchises in the country along with being ranked #77 on Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500 list of the top 500 franchises in the world. Batteries Plus was named as the #1 retail battery franchise by both publications. Batteries opened a record 60 stores in 2010, and in 2011 experienced a record month of franchise signings in March for 32 locations across the United States. Now with more than 455 locations in 45 states and Puerto Rico, Batteries Plus continues to grow at a record setting pace.
