Dickey's Barbecue Pit Hits Woodbury With Brisket

Country's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Continues Growth in Minnesota

WOODBURY, Minn., June 16, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest quick-serve barbecue chain in the country, continues to grow as business partners, Dale Mueller and Cory Sessions, sign on to open a Dickey's Barbecue Pit in the Woodbury area.

"The slow-smoked, quality barbecue and the casual concept of Dickey's is a perfect combination. It's a place where a person can come in and pickup a quick meal and head back to work, home, or bring the whole family to dine-in and just feel at home eating their food," Mueller said.

This is the first Dickey's Barbecue to open in Woodbury and the first franchise opportunity for Dale and Cory.

"It goes without saying that Dickey's barbecue is awesome, and I love that it is a family company with a 70 year history of excellence," Sessions said.

Sessions grew up in the restaurant business and was a general manager at Wendy's for 7 years.

"It has always been a dream of mine to own my own successful restaurant. I grew up in the restaurant business and was very impressed with the barbecue concept of the Dickey's brand. Dickey's seeks its own identity in that it's not a Texas or Memphis or KC Barbecue but a 'Dickey's' brand of barbecue, that makes it special," Sessions said.

There are seven Dickey's locations currently operating in Minnesota.

"We are so thrilled Cory and Dale will be bringing Dickey's Barbecue Pit to the Woodbury community," President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roland Dickey, Jr. said. "As our company grows, we grow as a family. This is a great opportunity for the company."

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their hot pit-smoked signature meats, complimentary ice cream and the big yellow cups.

"We have so many new franchise owners who are investing with us. With this economy, we are glad people trust us for success and do not take that trust for granted. Their victory is our victory and we plan on only moving forward," Dickey said.

The preparation prior to opening a Dickey's franchise is extensive, ensuring that everyone is thoroughly prepared to hit the ground running.

The original Dallas location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue Pit is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

There are 147 locations in 33 states.
