Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Community Service Department at Grand Opening Owner Celebrates with Free Subs
June 30, 2011 // Franchising.com // Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Rancho Cucamonga. Jersey Mike's owner Alvaro Garcia knows the importance of community relations and will celebrate his new ties with the area during his grand opening.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 8880 Foothill Blvd., hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wednesday, June 29 through Sunday, July 3, with proceeds supporting the Rancho Cucamonga Community Service Department. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 7,500 coupons were distributed throughout the community.
"I have been in the restaurant industry for many years and a small business owner in the quick serve restaurant world for more than a decade," said Garcia. "I firmly believe that giving back to the community, specifically to our youth, is vital to succeed. Our goal is to give to the Rancho Cucamonga Community Service Department a competitive edge by raising funds to support its programs and services during our grand opening." The motto of the Rancho Cucamonga Community Service Department is Touching Every Life. Each year, hundreds of thousands of residents enjoy the recreational and special event programs.
Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "We congratulate Alvaro Garcia on the opening of his first store in Rancho Cucamonga," said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems. "This is a great community and I know Alvaro cares about ensuring that all of Rancho Cucamonga's residents have a chance to succeed."
Alvaro was initially attracted to Jersey Mike's because of the inviting nature of the business model, which has a heavy emphasis on the customer experience and partnering with the community -- not to mention the quality of the product. "Ranch Cucamonga is an incredible community with lots of great businesses and I am looking forward to bringing the number one sub to the area. My goal in life is to always be the best at what I do. In my opinion, Jersey Mike's has the very best sub out there and I want to be the very best sub shop in the San Diego market," said Garcia.
Jersey Mike's, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 500 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support. Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's serves authentic East Coast-style subs on fresh baked bread – the same recipe it started with over 50 years ago. The company's mission is to bring its customers the highest quality, freshest made sub in the industry and give back to the communities in which it operates.
