New Dickey's Barbecue in Fort Worth is a Family Affair

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 7, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest quick serve barbecue restaurant in the country, opens its doors next week to their newest location at 6219 Oakmont Blvd in Fort Worth.

"Over the last couple of years, I've been looking at doing something on my own. My research went from tax service franchises to financial services to restaurants, but I narrowed down to the barbecue concept fairly easily," Franchise Owner Kyle Dawson said. "Dickey's seemed out of reach, but once I explored the option more, it became the only option in my mind."

Kyle, a graduate of Texas Christian University, lives in Cleburne with his wife, Elizabeth and their three children.

"I'm very familiar with Dickey's because I eat there quite a bit. When looking into investing in the franchise, the established brand appealed to me along with the local fan base," Kyle said.

The preparation prior to opening a Dickey's Barbecue is extensive, starting with Barbecue University held at the DBRI headquarters in Dallas.

"My Father and I will be attending the training course together and he will be the general manager of the location," said Dawson. "I will be there full-time, doing whatever I need to do to make this franchise successful. I want to be fully-immersed in this endeavor."

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their hot pit-smoked barbecue meats, home-style sides, free ice cream and big yellow cups.

"We have so many new franchise owners who are investing with us and in this economy, we are glad people trust us for success. Their victory is our victory and we plan on only moving forward," President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roland Dickey, Jr. said.

With 152 locations in 35 states, Dickey's is growing at a rapid rate, experiencing a 35% growth rate over the past 2 years, according to company officials.

The first Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX and began franchising in 1994.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Committed to exceptional quality at an affordable price, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.

Opening a Dickey's Barbecue Pit is an affordable franchise option, with start up costs starting at just 59K.
