Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Local Organizations At Grand Opening

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

July 18, 2011 // Franchising.com // Kingsport, TN - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its third store in the Kingsport area. Jersey Mike's owners David and Jeanie Wampler know the importance of community relations and celebrated their ties with the area during the grand opening on July 13.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 2637 East Stone Drive, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., July 13 through Sun., July 17, with proceeds supporting both the Bancroft Bible Camp and Cedar View Christian School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 5,000 coupons are being distributed throughout the community.

"We are supporting two local ministries that have had a profound impact on our lives, Bancroft Bible Camp and Cedar View Christian School," said David Wampler. "Bancroft Bible Camp has been ministering to kids for nearly 75 years. In fact, this is where Jeanie and I first met one summer 46 years ago. Our four daughters attended camp each summer and two of them also met their future husbands there. Now our grandchildren are experiencing the same great times at camp that their parents and grandparents did," he said.

"For 40 years, Cedar View Christian School has been providing a great service to the parents of the Kingsport area by providing quality academic, spiritual and physical education, to help children succeed in life," said Jeanie Wampler. "All four of our daughters attended Cedar View Christian School from Kindergarten thru high school. Now our grandchildren are following in their footsteps. Our son-in-law, Timothy Strickland, is the school principal and he is a key employee in our Jersey Mike's restaurants."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "We congratulate the Wamplers on the opening of their third store," said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems. "Their commitment to the community comes from the heart."

This is the third Jersey Mike's Subs location for franchisees David and Jeanie Wampler. They currently have one at I-81 Exit, 7 in Bristol, Va., one on the Volunteer Parkway in Bristol, Tenn., and now the newest Jersey Mike's in their hometown of Kingsport.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (423) 378-7827.
