Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Children's Memorial Hospital At Grand Opening

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

September 19, 2011 • Chicago, IL: Jersey Mike's Subs officially open its second location in downtown Chicago. Jersey Mike's owners, Amish Patel and Parag Patel, know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during the grand opening on September 19. This will be the Patels' second Jersey Mike's restaurant. Their first location at 200 West Monroe Street opened in January this year.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 120 North Wells Street hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Monday, September 19 through Friday, September 23, with proceeds supporting Children's Memorial Hospital. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. Coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

″We chose to support Children's Memorial Hospital because they provide unparalleled attention and care for the children and families of our city,″ said Amish Patel. ″In keeping with Jersey Mike's mission, we plan to put our full efforts toward raising money for this worthy organization.″ He and his team are inspired to help the hospital fulfill its vision which is guided by the belief that all children need to grow up in a protective and nurturing environment, where each child is given the opportunity to reach his or her potential.

Chicagoland Jersey Mike's locations raised almost $40,000 for the hospital this year in March during a ″Month of Giving″ campaign in which Jersey Mike's stores nationwide participated by supporting a local cause.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. ″One of the great pleasures of running a local business is getting a chance to participate in the community,″ said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. ″The Patel's are great business owners who understand the value of giving back. We congratulate them on their new store.

″The driving passion of the people and unmatched quality of food are the hallmarks that attracted me to the Jersey Mike's brand,″ said Amish Patel. ″I have been working with local charities for a long time and finally found a company that seamlessly merges business and charity.″ He is especially looking forward to, ″developing my team, making outstanding subs, and spreading Jersey Mike's throughout the Chicagoland area,″ he said. ″I want all of downtown Chicago to experience my favorite sub: the #9, Club Supreme – Mike's Way (onions, lettuce, tomato, red wine vinegar, olive oil blend and spices) of course.″

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. You can contact this store directly at (312) 251-0900.
