Dickey's Barbecue Extends 70th Anniversary Celebration

North Carolina Joins in the Anniversary Festivities for the Country's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 3, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- To celebrate 70 years in the barbecue business, Dickey's Barbecue will offer $1 Big Yellow Cup drinks and pulled pork sandwiches until 3 p.m. on October 18.

"Dickey's Barbecue continues to be a great restaurant that continues to give back to the community and its loyal customers," said Greg Woloszczuk, President of GMW Carolina, Inc, which owns three area locations. "It's also great to celebrate companywide with multiple franchises."

Cary, Durham, Greenville, Raleigh, Southern Pines, Winston-Salem and Knightdale will all be honoring the anniversary celebration, while also extending the promotion after 3 p.m. with $3 Big Sandwiches.

"Everyone loves Dickey's Barbecue, and the communities in North Carolina continue to support our business," said Woloszczuk. "It is our way of saying thanks to all of North Carolina and for voting us the Best Barbecue in the Triangle!"

The anniversary festivities kicked off last month, when the Raleigh location hosted the semi-finals of a national eating contest on September 15. Derek Fletcher, the winner of the eating contest, will be flown to Dallas for nationals at the original Dickey's Barbecue location.

"We are excited to celebrate 70 years in the barbecue business and wanted to make sure Dickey's celebrated the communities across the country that support our endeavors," said Roland Dickey, Jr., the president of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.

The original Dallas location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue Pit is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

There are 174 locations in 36 states.
