California Welcomes Expansion of America's Fastest Growing Barbecue Restaurant

ELK GROVE, Calif., Oct. 11, 2011 // PRNewswire // --Jared Katzenbarger reached an agreement with Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. to open his first Dickey's franchise location in Elk Grove.

"Dickey's Barbecue won me over with its food. The barbecue is quality barbecue that invests in the meat, as well as the sides, and then finishes off every meal with free ice cream," said Katzenbarger, who will own and operate the new location. "It does not get better than that."

There are nine Dickey's locations currently in California and 176 nationwide.

"Before setting out on this franchise adventure I worked as a Business Analyst at Apple Inc. and Xyratex International. From there I launched my own Custom Electronics business which led me into Real Estate investing which is a passion of mine and I wish to continue alongside the Dickey's opportunity," said Katzenbarger. "I have my Bachelors of Science in Management Information Systems from University of Phoenix. Yes I am a Phoenix!"

Jared is now involved in real estate investing, which he will continue pursuing alongside his Dickey's franchise.

"We are excited about building on our substantial California expansion, particularly with Jared who is obviously a hard worker," said Roland Dickey Jr., president of DBRI. "We are happy to provide him with a platform to give back to the Elk Grove community that he appreciates whole-heartedly."

The restaurant remains anchored in Texas, where the first location opened in Dallas during 1941.
