The Nation's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Supports Local Homeless Veterans.

DALLAS, Oct. 20, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Dickey's Barbecue is supporting this year's Homeless Veteran Stand Down event by partnering with The Veterans' Affairs North Texas Health Care System Homeless Veterans Outreach program and with Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas, Inc., by serving 600 free lunches to local homeless veterans.

The Homeless Veteran Stand Down event is scheduled October 21st from 9a.m. until 2p.m. All homeless veterans are encouraged to attend and bring a copy of their discharge papers (DD Form 214) or a current military ID Card. Various services including a free Dickey's lunch will be provided to all invited guests that attend the Dallas VA Medical Center, Spinal Cord Injury Center Multipurpose Room, located at 4500 S. Lancaster Rd. in Dallas.

"The Homeless Veterans Stand Down will allow the community to pull together resources and job opportunities for our veterans with a common goal of ending the fight against homelessness and helping others find hope when they may have thought all was lost," said Tammy Wood, health care for homeless veterans program manager at VA North Texas Health Care System. The homeless stand down motto is "It's a hand-up, not a hand-out for homeless veterans and citizens throughout the Dallas metroplex."
