Dickey's Barbecue Pit Opens its Doors in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y., Oct. 21, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit opens its doors to hungry customers in Plattsburgh this weekend. The 2,000 square foot space is located at 71 Smithfield Blvd.

Jim Moore and Plattsburgh native Ryan Tolbert are the franchise owners of this location. Moore worked as the morning meteorologist at WPTZ TV, waking up at 1:45 a.m. to bring the weather to the Plattsburgh community. He was looking for a new venture with more reasonable hours. That's when he turned to a franchise opportunity with Dickey's.

"We are excited to be expanding in New York and to the Plattsburgh community," said Roland Dickey, Jr., President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. "Jim and Ryan are bringing real Texas barbecue to a new area and I know people are going to love it."

Dickey's Barbecue menu includes eight signature meats, which are slow smoked over hickory wood. Dine in and take-out service is available and the hours of operation for this location are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays with every adult meal purchased.

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Since then Dickey's has experienced a rapid growth rate this year and is scheduled to have 200 locations by the end of 2011.

The original Dallas Dickey's Barbecue Pit location remains open for business and is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
