“Having lived in the Seattle area for almost 11 years, and like everyone else in the Northwest, we got caught up in the coffee craze. So when we moved to Kansas City, Kansas we were surprised to see coffee just starting to catch on” said, Ray.

With the passing of Ray’s mother and taking an early retirement, Ray decided he needed something to do. Both Ray and Pat always wanted to own and operate their own business. With a background in Retail and Fast-food Management and a passion for coffee, they started to explore franchise opportunities.

“Maui Wowi Hawaiian seemed to fit well with our lifestyle, dreams, and desire. The concept of the ‘Ohana really resonates with us. We see our Maui Wowi franchise as the perfect opportunity to get our grandson Robbie involved. After exploring other franchises we came to the conclusion that Maui Wowi would be a fun and profitable business,” said Pat.

The Powers plan to start with a fixed drive-thru location and then expand into events and venues in-and-around the Kansas City area. “Because of the Ka’annapali cart we felt Maui Wowi Hawaiian offered a flexible business model that would allow us to expand and grow. We think that Kansas City is ready for Maui Wowi Hawaiian and we are excited to spread the ‘Aloha Spirit’ to the surrounding community,” explained Ray.
