Dickey's Barbecue Pit Plans to Open in Athens

Authentic Barbecue Comes to Georgia

ATHENS, Georgia, Feb. 7, 2012 // PRNewswire // -- Sassy Tumblin and her husband Trippy are taking on another Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Georgia.

"We own the Dickey's in Watkinsville and felt it was a great time to expand," said Sassy Tumblin.

The couple's new location will be at 810 Hawthorne Avenue, the store phone number is 706-850-7561. Right across the street from this new location is the YMCA and the new Medical College of Georgia is just down the road. According to Tumblin, the store will open around the end of February or beginning of March.

The couple also owns and operates CiCi's Pizza in Athens. They have been with the company since 2000 and owners of the Atlanta Highway location since 2007.

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994.
