Maui Wowi Hawaiian Franchisee to Donate Proceeds From Event to Help Teen Battling Cancer

Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees and Smoothies will attend ‘Softball 4 Stephanie’ in San Diego, Calif. to help raise money for the family of a young girl battling cancer.

Greenwood Village, CO (PRWEB) March 03, 2012 - Maui Wowi Hawaiian, http://www.mauiwowifranchise.com, has always been present in the area of fundraising for local communities. This Sunday, March 4, 2012, a franchisee of the coffee and smoothie franchise company will be participating in a fundraiser called ‘Softball 4 Stephanie’ in San Diego, Calif. Franchise owner, Barbara Putman will be donating 100% of her profits during the event to help a young teen battling cancer.

“This is our first fundraising event where we’re not just donating a small percentage; we’re donating everything. Our time, product, and proceeds will go to the family,” said Putman. “I have a nephew who is battling leukemia and seeing these young kids with cancer really hits home for me.”

‘Softball 4 Stephanie’ was organized by Stephanie’s good friend, Cassi Vick. Cassi was Stephanie’s softball coach and the two of them became very close through the years. When Stephanie, 13, was diagnosed with adrenal cancer last year, she was no longer able to continue playing the sport she loves.

“I decided to organize this event because my family is very close to Stephanie and I know she really misses softball so I wanted to do something that would make her happy, but also help her family,” said Cassi.

‘Softball 4 Stephanie’ will bring together several local teams to play in a tournament. The donations received from those who attend, as well as those raised and donated by vendors will go towards the medical bills that have accumulated as Stephanie and her family continue to fight cancer.

The fundraising event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Canyonside Recreational Park in Rancho Penasquitos off of Black Mountain Road in San Diego County. Cassi is accepting donations on behalf of Stephanie and her family and encourages local residents to attend. “Anybody is welcome this weekend. We would love to have as many people out there as we can to support Stephanie,” said Cassi. “I am really excited for the event and I couldn’t have done it without all the support from my family and the people of the Poway and PQ community.”

Maui Wowi Hawaiian will be there serving all-natural fresh fruit smoothies and Hawaiian coffees from a mobile Ka’anapali cart as friends, family, and the community gather together to bring hope to Stephanie and her family.
