Manasquan Jersey Mike’s Subs Holds Grand Reopening

Month-long fundraiser for Children’s Hospital

March 5, 2012 - Manasquan, NJ - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, will hold a grand reopening celebration on Wed., March 7, in its hometown location, to show off its newly remodeled interior. As part of the festivities, franchise owners Bryan and Colleen Davenport will hold a month-long fundraiser in March to support K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

This fundraiser is part of Jersey Mike’s 2nd Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to benefit 74 different charities throughout the country with a mission to help children. During March, customers can make a donation to K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at any of the 18 Ocean/Monmouth County area Jersey Mike’s restaurants including the Davenports’ restaurant at 2627 Highway 70
in Manasquan.

Then on Jersey Mike’s “Make A Difference Day” on Wednesday, March 28, Ocean/Monmouth County area residents are invited to come in to any local Jersey Mike’s restaurant and enjoy a delicious sub meal. The Ocean/Monmouth Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 50 percent of the day’s sales to K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.

Also, as part of the grand reopening, the Davenports have distributed 5,000 coupons for free sub sandwiches throughout the community and encourage customers to donate to the Children’s Hospital when they come in to redeem their free sub.

The Davenports have a personal connection to Jersey Shore University Medical Center as one of their team members, Tom Hayes, who started working at their restaurant at age 18, was diagnosed with cancer there at age 21. Tom, now 23 and doing well, works in Jersey Mike’s home office in the Operations Department.

“The fact that the Davenports are giving back to a local hospital -- and the hospital I was diagnosed in -- shows how kind their hearts are,” said Tom Hayes. “With the help of both the Davenports and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, I have been in remission for over a year and a half. The Davenports helped me become the man I always wanted to be and they deserve just as much credit for my recovery as Jersey Shore University Medical Center.”

Hayes added: “Thanks to the Davenports, I was given the opportunity to work for the franchise itself. If it wasn’t for the training I was given and the knowledge I pulled from Bryan, I wouldn’t be in such a wonderful position. They deserve nothing but success.”

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters. The remodeling is part of a national initiative to bring new design elements and a vibrant Jersey Shore feel to restaurants from coast to coast. Jersey Mike’s Wall, N.J., location also recently completed its makeover.

The Davenports exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 100,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

Restaurant hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this restaurant directly at 732-528-7878
