Mr. Rooter® Facebook Game Calls Attention to "Fix a Leak" Week

(PRWEB) March 13, 2012 - Mr. Rooter Plumbing uses The Drip Game on Facebook to promote the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Fix a Leak” Week, which is March 12-18.

The Drip Game is about stopping leaks, which have become a rampant problem in reality. More than 1 trillion gallons of water are wasted from household leaks each year, according to the EPA WaterSense website.

“We started the Water-Wise initiative at Mr. Rooter Plumbing to bring attention to the importance of conserving water,” said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter LLC. “With The Drip Game we can make learning about water conservation more entertaining.”

The game features “powerups” that make it interesting. While some catch, slow and stop the drips, others multiply the score and lower the clog level.

In The Drip Game, Wally the Wrench stops leaks in three different levels: the sink, toilet and shower. On the EPA WaterSense website, it reminds Americans to repair leaks in these same areas.

Finding and fixing leaks can save the average household more than 10,000 gallons of water annually, according to the EPA. That’s enough to fill a backyard swimming pool.

Homeowners can get an idea of how much water they’re wasting with the Mr. Rooter Online Drip Calculator at http://www.mrrooter.com/AskTheExpert/Drip Calculator.aspx. It determines the amount of water wasted daily, monthly and yearly based on the number of drips per minute.

“Repairing leaky faucets can also save homeowners money by lowering their water bills,” said Fawn Barlow, marketing manager at Mr. Rooter LLC. “We hope our fun online resources like the Drip Calculator and The Drip Game can help out homeowners when it comes to water conservation.”
