East Coast Wings & Grill Reports 34 Consecutive Quarters of Same Store Sales, Proves the Chicken Wing Segment Still Has Legs (or Wings)

July 12, 2012 // Franchising.com // WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – As the chicken wing segment of the restaurant industry continues to gain momentum, so to is East Coast Wings & Grill posting a second quarter increase of 10.55 percent over last year and 12.5 percent year to date.

This second quarter increase puts the burgeoning company at a total of 34 consecutive quarters of same store sales.

“The same store sales growth is clear validation within our communities that East Coast Wings & Grill has the best wings,” said Sam Ballas president and CEO. “Our commitment to fresh, gourmet style buffalo wings combined with our family oriented atmosphere gives our brand an edge in the chicken wing segment that other concepts don’t posses.”

Known for its 75 different flavors of jumbo chicken wings, East Coast Wings & Grill currently has 23 restaurants operating throughout North Carolina.

“We have developed patiently over the last eight years,” Ballas added, noting the company’s dedication to finding quality franchisees. “We are a brand focused on strategic growth and we are confident that 2012 is going to be another successful year for us. Our same store sales growth in the double digits can be attributed to our exemplary franchisees and a corporate team desiring to be the best in the industry. I am simply thrilled on what is to come.”

With another 21 new restaurants in the pipeline, the successful North Carolina-based chain has caught the eye of several franchise business owners. With these new locations, the brand will expand its operations in South Carolina, Georgia and Texas in 2012, with Florida, Kentucky, Alabama and Virginia following soon after.

East Coast Wings & Grill was founded in 1995 and taken over by Ballas in 2000, who believed it had potential as a family-oriented concept. With the intention to deliver an atmosphere where anyone, including families, could enjoy the famous East Coast Wings style buffalo wings, he quickly trimmed back the bar atmosphere, retooled the menu and created the concept as it is known today. While 75 flavors of buffalo style wings, offered in 675 combinations depending on heat intensity, remain a staple of the concept, East Coast Wings’ six-page menu also includes such causal dining fare as burgers, salads, sandwiches and more.
