With New, All Time Sales Record Set, Fazoli’s Freshens up Fall Menu with Twist on Longtime Favorite

Pizza Baked Pastas start at just $3.99

LEXINGTON, Ky. - September 4, 2012 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Fazoli's, America’s largest premium Italian quick service restaurant chain, today announced that its August sales broke yet another record. Company unit sales were up 3.4 percent over last year, making it the 25th consecutive month of comp-store sales increases. Franchise restaurants reported positive August sales of 4.2 percent, making it the 26th month in a row for comp-store sales growth. A new record for continuous franchise same-store sales was set in July.

“This is a new, all-time record for Fazoli’s,” said Carl Howard, president and CEO. The chain celebrates its 24th anniversary in September.

Against a backdrop of positive summer sales, Fazoli’s is setting the stage for fall by reprising a longtime favorite, Pizza Baked Pastas, for a limited time. Starting today, guests will again be able to enjoy the hearty Pizza Baked Pastas that partner delicious pasta entrees with the tasty appeal of pizza. This year the lineup includes a new Pizza Baked Lasagna. Priced at $5.49, the indulgent entrée features Cheese Lasagna in a creamy Marinara sauce with Italian sausage and a blend of Mozzarella and Provolone cheeses. It is topped with Pepperoni. Other Pizza Baked Pastas include Pizza Baked Spaghetti ($3.99), Pizza Baked Ziti ($3.99) and Pizza Baked Ravioli ($4.99.)

For just $1.49, guests can make their pizza baked pasta a “Supremo” with extra Pepperoni, Salami, peppers and onions, and seasoned Parmesan cheese.

“Guests are clearly responding to the many improvements and enhancements we have made to our food quality, service and facilities,” said Chief Marketing Officer Cathy Hull. “This limited-time offer, with the addition of a fresh, new item at a great value, reflects our heritage while reminding guests there are a lot of good changes going on at Fazoli’s.”

As part of a far-reaching turnaround strategy, Fazoli’s has upgraded its menu and added dining room meal delivery. Food is now served on real plates, and guests use real silverware. An extensive new service and hospitality initiative was launched earlier this year, and the chain recently revamped its hiring and training program. Most restaurants have been remodeled.
