Jersey Mike’s Subs Opens Second Long Beach Location

Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs

September 12, 2012 // Franchising.com // Long Beach, CA - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Long Beach on August 29. Franchise owner Alvaro Garcia will hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wed., Aug. 29 to Sun., Sept. 2 with all proceeds to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

The new restaurant, located at 1831 Ximeno Avenue, circulated 12,000 coupons throughout the community, offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 donation or a 50 percent discount. Both offers will benefit CHOC.

Named one of the best children’s hospitals in eight specialties by U.S. News & World Report, CHOC earned the Gold Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence. In addition, CHOC is the first children’s hospital in the United States to earn the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.

Alvaro Garcia exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“This fundraiser is a great opportunity to make a difference for the children in our community,” said Garcia. “At Jersey Mike’s we are passionate about giving back to the communities we serve and this partnership with the Children’s Hospital is a perfect fit for our grand opening.”

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. Unlike its pre-sliced competition, the company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is Alvaro Garcia’s eighth Jersey Mike’s location. In June 2011, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga. Garcia also owns Jersey Mike’s locations in Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, La Verne, Glendora, Upland, and Marina del Rey.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at 562-494-1888.
