Jersey Mike's to Open Two Jacksonville Area Locations on Same Day

Owners Celebrate with Separate Free Sub Fundraisers

November 21, 2012 - JACKSONVILLE and ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Jacksonville and Orange Park on November 14. Both locations – separately owned -- held grand openings and free subs fundraisers from Wednesday, November 14 to Sunday, November 18.

The new restaurants, located at 9700 Deer Lake Court in Jacksonville and 410 Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community, offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the charities outlined below. Additional offers for the Orange Park location were available in the Florida Times-Union.

Ryan McLaughlin, owner of the Jacksonville operation (9700 Deer Lake Court), will support Foster Closet. Foster Closet is a free resource for Northeast Florida's foster parents and relative and non-relative placements to access clothing, children's accessories, toys, and children's furniture. Foster Closet offers a simple, no-nonsense approach that provides immediate assistance without complicated procedures. Through the generous contributions of the community, Foster Closet’s inventory is abundant and they rely on a vast network of volunteers and donors to access additional donations at a moment’s notice.

“We are excited to partner with Foster Closet again for our grand opening fundraiser,” said McLaughlin. “We had such great success working with Foster Closet this past August for our Jersey Mike’s grand opening at 1615 Hendricks Avenue and we are hoping for similar success as we open our doors again in Jacksonville.” This is McLaughlin’s second Jersey Mike’s restaurant along with the location on Hendricks Avenue. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact the restaurant directly at (904) 337-0159.

Franchise owner Dale Herring, and his sons and co-owners Colby and Matt Herring of the 410 Blanding Boulevard restaurant in Orange Park will support K9s For Warriors. K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to United States veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress as a result of conflicts and war after 9/11. Their philosophy is to involve the veteran in the training of their new service canine partner, allowing them the opportunity to be part of the solution to their recovery.

“We are thrilled to be opening our doors in Orange Park and introducing new customers to the exceptional product we serve at Jersey Mike’s” said Dale Herring. “Partnering with K9s For Warriors is a great way for us to give back to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the safety of our nation.” This is the second Jersey Mike’s for the Herrings. They also have a location in Jacksonville which opened in March. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact the restaurant directly at (904) 272-0037.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.

McLaughlin and the Herrings exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
