HoneyBaked and Its Customers Feed the Hungry this Holiday Season

HoneyBaked Partners with Feeding America

ATLANTA - December 1, 2012 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - While many Americans are trying to plan that perfect holiday meal, many others are worried about where they will find a simple bite to eat. In fact, hunger is an issue for one in six Americans, many of whom are hard-working seniors and adults with children who are forced to go without food for several meals because they can no longer make ends meet.

This holiday season marks the second year that HoneyBaked* has joined with Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger relief organization with food banks across the country, to support local community food banks. From now until Dec. 16, participating stores will accept register donations, 100 percent of which support local food banks. In addition, HoneyBaked will match all donations, up to $15,000, to support the Feeding America Network and HoneyBaked’s goal of providing 250,000 meals to families struggling with hunger.

“The holidays are a particularly difficult time for so many reasons, and that’s why HoneyBaked is partnering with Feeding America again this year,” said Maggie DeCan, COO of HoneyBaked. “We want to help give the gift of meals, provide relief, and make the season a little brighter for our neighbors dealing with hunger. We hope our customers will join us in this effort.”

According to the US Department of Agriculture, in 2011, 50.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, which includes 33.5 million adults and 16.7 million children.
